About the Artist
Maureen, a longtime resident of Cornwall NY, was born in Rockaway Beach Queen and graduated from Beach Channel High School class of 1980. Bruce Degen was her High School art teacher who planted the seed that took over 30 year to sprout. Maureen has been a resident of Cornwall, in the beautiful Hudson Valley, for over 30 years and finds peace in the beauty around her. The Hudson Valley has been her muse for the past 10 years.
“ I love the beauty of the Hudson Valley and always want to take out a brush and capture the world around me in paint … my goal is to bring Art into the lives of everyone I meet weather it is through a paint event with friends and family or at our local library. Join me and let’s paint together.”
" I have had wonderful instructors such as William Noonan, Dennis Fanton, George Hayes, Nancy Reed-Jones, Susan Hope-Fogel, all in the Hudson Valley, as well as Carol Douglas in Maine. All of my teachers have had a tremendous influence on my work. I am always looking for new things to do with my art. I get bored easily which leads me to try different mediums or look for new subjects like the beaches and streets that I grew up on … some may say I lack focus… I really just want to have fun, and I will go wherever that leads.
“I am doing my part to bringing our local Artist and businesses together! There are so many talented Artists in our town that would love to have their work displayed where they live. I hope that The Cornwall Arts Collective along with local Businesses can make this happen.”
If you are looking for someone to help you find your inner artist please give me a call. I would love to be the one that plants that seed and helps you get your start.
“ I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I have enjoyed making it “
